“Once in Old Town”

An original composition that came to me as I was reflecting on the now defunct Hobos Restaurant and Bar, (in Portland, Ore) where I spent 35 years as pianist. The image at the end of the keyboard is a picture of Hobos on canvas which I received as a gift just after it closed permanently due to covid. So many great memories. I miss it.

 “Sleigh Ride”

(Leroy Anderson. Arr. by Blackburn and Barnes)

With Michael Barnes (left side)

It was such a treat having two pianos at home AND a willing duet partner (Michael Barnes, pianist, organist, and all around good guy!)

Good Times (during some not-so-good times!)

song: Limehouse Blues

Location: Mt. Tabor Park, Portland, Ore

Me on piano, JD on horn. For more info on Tune Tours, click the icon in the upper left corner of this video. It was/is an amazing thing that Jon did during the early days of the pandemic- just going all around the state with various musicians, finding a spot to park, and providing free music to all who wanted to listen. People were so responsive and appreciative everywhere we went! It was a great experience for me, a positive, healthy distraction during those days of isolation. Thank you, Jon!
